The place to talk. "On topic"? "Off topic"? We make no such petty distinctions here.

TV actor wordplay

Take the name of an actor best known for a role in a sci-fi TV series.

Remove one letter from his first name, and one letter from his last name, and get a description of a medical condition.

I remember being tested for this as a child, but I can't remember what my results were. I'll have to see if there's a way to get a hold of that...information.

Then remove a different letter from his first name, and the same letter from his last name, and get a description of a different medical condition that - hopefully - gets a surgeon's attention in utero.

Here are hints and/or clarifications for my original puzzle.

After removing the letters, there is no scrambling.

Also, the letter we remove from the first name happens to be the same letter we remove from the last name.

Also, the first name is 5 letters and the last name is 6 letters.

Also, the TV series in question aired from 1987 to 1994.

Brent Spiner after removing a letter from his first and last names would become bent spine.
