Movie series whose 3rd movie was in 3D: Would Piranha count? I suppose it's a technicality that the 1995 remake was a TV movie, not a proper "third film".

There were a couple series like that that I discounted for not being "sequels" but remakes or re-imaginings or whatever. Night of the Living Dead was another one, I think.
