The place to talk. "On topic"? "Off topic"? We make no such petty distinctions here.

Who are these famous people and what do their names have in common? Can you add anyone else to the list?

Well, I can identify 4 of the people:

1. Teri Garr
2. ?
3. Los Lobos
4. Jimmy Doolittle
5. Ali McGraw

As to the commonality, well at least 2 of them share a last name with a famous doctor (Dr Phil McGraw & Doctor Dolittle), but I can't get the others to fit.

#2 is Amber Nash
and I thought the pilot was Butch O'Hare, but you might be right.

Here's who they are, from top to bottom:

Teri Garr
Amber Nash
Los Lobos
Edward "Butch" O'Hare
Ali Macgraw

So, expanding on what TheConfessor figured out, that means the answers are:

RIGA
BERN
OSLO
DOHA
LIMA
"While my father was milking the cows my mother would come out and read something to him -- Lear, say -- leaving out the part of whomever my father felt like being that day, and he'd answer his lines from the cow. " (John Gardner)

Here's another, possibly-too-obvious example:

I think it has to be split. Otherwise the list would grow significantly: Denzel, Irving, Ms Hilton. etc.

Yeah, I made sure mine were all split, but I'm not sure if there are any good ones of those left.

Yeah, good point. She just happened to be the first one that came to mind...I can't come up with any others that satisfy the "split" rule, though.

Laura Batsell wasn't famous, but her death made the news.

I got comedian Jackie Vernon and photographer Pedro Meyer. Those were about the only somewhat-recognizable names I could find that fit the pattern.

There are lots of people named Ramon Acosta, including a doctor in New Jersey and a minor league baseball player.

I had no idea what the answer was, I just support the idea of someone posting pics of Terri Garr.
