I'll admit that I grepped /usr/share/dict/words to find these. I'm not going to post the non-plural one, not without a court order.

Finally, Ken posts a wordplay late enough for me to be awake and I still get beat out.

Anyway, I might as well make #2 explicit. The two words are amoebae and subpoenaed.
