 Cleveland Browns Logo
I considered the "monochromatic" answer to Ken's Q#7 this week, but was thrown off by the inclusion of hte Cleveleand Browns.
I don't know what version of the "official emblem" Ken was analyzing, but every version of the Browns' logo I've seen contains both brown and orange. I'm pretty sure that the Brown's "official" logo is their helmet, in near profile. This contains both the orange base, a brown stripe, and a grey facemask.

If an NFL team's logo is what's on their helmet, which is how I would have defined it, then the Browns logo is no logo, i.e. a plain orange field. I don't know if that helmet picture is also an "official" logo by any definition, or just what they use on merchandising and TV because an orange blob would look dumb, but surely "helmet emblem" is a pretty obvious possible definition of "NFL logo."

 Monchromatism
Fair enough. But if we're just looking at the helmet -- and disregarding the stripes and "field" color in the background of the logo -- then it seems to me that many other NFL teams qualify: Rams, Bears, Green Bay, New Orleans, NY Giants, and conceivably, the Bengals (a good site to research this quesiton, BTW, is http://nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/).
I was going off the logos at the top of NFL.com for purposes of the above post.

Hmm that's a bad precedent. The Yankees have only one color on their hats but their logo contains many colors.
The Brown's have no official logo. They use an image of their helmet on some marketing and as a pseudo logo. The helmet has three colors, orange, brown and white. The brown stripes bracket the white one.

...except that those teams, unlike the Browns, have better-known "official" logos on merchandising and the like. I'm guessing "Gibbie" is right when he says the Browns have no official logo, which makes this a question of Zen. Is a non-logo monochromatic?

She, but thanks. I think they don't belong either because they don't have a logo and as such cannot have colors on their non logo or because the de fact logo has three colors. And if a tree falls in a forest...
I know a group of us that were debating this in another forum were equally stumped and several of us dismissed the logo colors because of the Browns inclusion. So it's not just me.

You really think I wouldn't be getting similar emails if I'd left the Browns out? "How can it not be monochromatic? It's a solid field of orange!!!"
You guys also thought the Cowboys logo had silver in it, etc., so I'm not overly concerned about your other board's consensus.

Hey no fair, I was confused because I thought they were talking about team colors and dammit I was playing by the rules and not looking things up.
