The place to talk. "On topic"? "Off topic"? We make no such petty distinctions here.

Al Gore/EW Blog

He looks like Spock. Or Spock's father. Or any other Vulcan for that matter.

Speaking of, has anyone else seen the hilarious Inconvienet Truth/Futurama promo?

The little red '+' sign actually looks like a cross if you're not paying attention, adding to the effect.

Wired

There's also a freaky Gore cover on a recent issue of "Wired."

It makes me wonder just how horrifying the pictures they didn't use were.

IIRC, Stephen Colbert had a comment on it a day or two ago on his show. He (or rather, the character "Colbert") said that it was an appropriate picture if An Inconvenient Truth is supposed to be a horror movie.

That EW photo of Gore reminds me a bit of Beethoven's death mask, but I think Beethoven might look a little livelier.

I was thinking about Senor Spielbergo while looking at that cover. "We did 20 takes, and that was the best one..."

And that reminds me of America's Next Top Model. "Al, this was your best shot...I like the way your eyes are "smoldering" in this picture. But I feel like you only have one look! To be a model, you have to be versatile! Don't be afraid to express yourself through your photos."

Al "Faustus" Gore?

Postby Ken Jennings Jr. » Sat Jul 22, 2006 7:27 am

Actually, this explains a lot. It is now apparent that Al traded his soul to Mephistopheles in exchange for the "secret of the internet." With any luck he can follow in Faustus' footsteps and gain the secret of invisibility.

Cheers!

Amazingly bad photo ... I just saw the film today, and Gore doesn't look that ridiculous at any point during the movie. Sadly, that might be his idea of a smoldering movie-star photo of himself. It's almost like a weird parodic variation on that (rather than Senor Spielbergo) Steven Spielberg cover for Newsweek back when Schindler's List was going to be out soon, with a close-up Spielberg staring into the camera, having completed a culminating work in his career. And that cover for Wired looks just as bad. Jeez. Like Ken said, you'd think someone in the Gore camp would have said something.

Now if it was M. Night Shyamalan with that expression, somehow I'd have been less surprised.

P.S. You wouldn't necessarily think so from those photos, but the film is very good.

A microprocessor controlled fully armoured hyper-alloy combat chassis.

It can't be bargained with.
It can't be reasoned with.
It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear.
And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Senor Spielbergo --- That sounds like a reference from my favorite Simpsons episode. :) "Football in the groin! Football in the groin!"
