Grader Story

Very interesting, and congratulations again. I assume the whole "retaking the title from Brad" was the more "relatable" story they wanted, huh? They should have had a big, flashy, fake-gold WWE-style championship belt.... or pocket protector... for you to raise over your head at the end.

There was one line that jumped out at me, though:

"Instead, watching the show, I found that they’d actually edited me to make me seem, somehow, likeable. This is pretty amazing; Mindy’s had eight years of marriage to work the same miracle and hasn’t really managed."

Now, I'm not a married man myself, but I understand sometimes things can sound different than they were intended. I assume Ken meant "After eight years, Mindy hasn't managed to make me seem likeable," not "After eight years, Mindy still doesn't seem likeable." Obviously not what was meant.....

Ken you may have muddled through the Pocahantas question, but your approach to the earth size question was certainly reasonable. It came across as a bit convoluted on the air, but did make sense and was a good way to use some very basic math to confirm your response.

I still claim that Rolfe should have been easy for you. Everyone's heard of Smith in relation to Pocahantas. But you definitely had a mental link of Rolfe to Pocahantas. And what else could it be? If Rolfe hadn't married her, would you have ever heard of him? Obviously, it's easier to be comfortable with this reasoning while watching the show rather than being a contestant. Given that you were fairly certain that it had to be one of the two, however, your strategy of peeking and then picking the other (given that you had the "save" left) was a great way to go.

Enjoy your money!

Unfortunately, this show is not going to let too many people of solid trivia skills on it. You got there because of your history, but otherwise you would have been a long shot to get on. Like WWTBAM now, they're looking for the drama of putting ordinary people in pressure situations (paraphrased from a Michael Davies quote).

Ha! You're likable enough, Mindy.

Apparently they're no longer available (the videos, that is).
