Well, it's not so much about why it exists as why you absolutely positively ought to buy vowels if you are a Wheel of Fortune contestant. He covers the obvious stuff (it gives you time to breathe, it's almost always a safe bet to buy AEIO in a big puzzle) and some more obscure stuff (they tell you when there are no vowels left, so if there's only one vowel that hasn't been selected, and it's still available to be bought, it MUST be in the puzzle).

Yes, despite all those misleading reports, there are Conservatives in Show Business.

I do have a theory why there are so many Liberals, Progressives and dang-it Borderline Socialists, though. It's because the Business of Show is the one industry where the Capitalistic virtues of hard work and quality of product are LEAST associated with success, and it's a sub-conscious realization by many Stars that, objectively, they do not deserve their success and the system ought to be less competitive and more 'fair'. This also explains why Entertainers who are still openly Conservative are much more likely to get into politics - an absence of cognitive dissonance. But it does not explain why so many "Limousine Liberals" treat their own employees so un-enlightenedly. Maybe under every well-coiffed star is a pointy-haired boss.

Well, no. Nothing I've posted in this thread has been necessary.

If your response is meant to imply that you feel I am belittling conservatives, Pat Sajak, and/or people who would respond negatively to conservatives and/or Pat Sajak . . . that isn't the case, I promise. That's why I threw in "no matter your own leanings"--I was talking about the shock of seeing an openly conservative celebrity simply as its own rarity, not for the conservative quality of it.

I think it's great that Pat is willing to (intelligently) speak his mind. I completely agree with some of his views. I completely disagree with others. The man can read numbers off of a wheel like nobody's business. That's just my opinion, of course.
