The place to talk. "On topic"? "Off topic"? We make no such petty distinctions here.

What do these musical artists have in common?

Foreigner
Stone Temple Pilots
Seaweed
Beyonce
Blues Traveler

among others. You could add Huey Lewis and the News, if you wanted to be cute about it.

If you wanted to really stretch it you could add Led Zeppelin.

I was surprised to find out that Chicago does NOT qualify for this list.

Haven't we seen this one before? If so, I can't find it in the archives. It was probably so long ago that the subject line was "What have these musical artists in common?"

It's entirely possible. I've thought of this question before, and with the announcement of Beyonce's new album, I figured now was as good a time as any to post it.

Answer:

All of these artists named their fourth album "4" or something similar ("No. 4", "Fore!", etc.)

I think we can add Miranda Lambert's 2011 album Four the Record to the list. What do you suppose it is about the fourth album that makes this such a popular trope? Or are there other, equally popular numbers that I'm just missing?

If Adele hopes to qualify, she really needs to pick up the pace.

Didn't she miss out on qualifying sometime around 1994?

Not for the proposed variation immediately above my response.

I'm still trying to figure out what TheConfessor's response means.

Anyway, on a related note, there's some internet speculation that Beyonce's new baby's middle name was chosen because it's a homophone of the number 4 in Roman numerals. BK has a number of personal connections to the number; for instance, both she and Jay-Z have birthdays on the 4th of the month.

It was just a throwaway whimsical notion that doesn't warrant any major brain strain. Since Adele has titled her albums after her age when she recorded them, and since she has released only two albums so far ("19" and "21"), she would have release new albums more quickly to have any chance of recording her 30th album called "30" when she's 30 years old, etc.

In other words, never mind.

Aha. I figured it was something like that. I was trying to connect it to "4" somehow.

The new number one album in the country adds another artist to the list.

One of the members of the group dated the artist of the previous number one for a while. Also, the current number one's title is 1985 less that the previous number one's title.

Guess the group.

Spoiler: show
One Direction
.
